IKEA, a global retailer in home furnishing products, acted on sustainable retail design on physical products and their features. Their example of a sustainable product is the ÅBÄKEN mist nozzle for mixer tap, which according to their product feature, saves up to 95% water in mist mode and 66% in spray mode when compared to standard wash-basin mixer taps with a water flow rate of 5.7 l/min.

Blink's Sustainable Retail Insights

With sustainability having a positive impact on consumers’ choices (Bhattacharya et al., 2020; Luo and Bhattacharya, 2006), it has been an increasing area of interest for retailers and consumers alike. For retailers, it is related to brand perception, reputation and building a competitive advantage. Considering this fact, retailers who promote sustainable business practices will more likely be seen as "appealing” than their competitors. ‍* Due to the impact of inflation, consumers are finding more innovative ways to spend less, by adopting more sustainable lifestyle (Deloitte UK, 2022).
